Emily Selig, a senior at Corning High School, has been named the Artist of the Month for August by the Corning Beautification Committee. Emily has always been passionate about art. She has enjoyed attending painting classes with local artist, Jennifer Prince since she was very young. July’s Artist of the Month, Peggy Taylor, also helped nurture Emily’s artistic ability at a very young age. Throughout high school, Emily has continued to develop a love for art and has branched out beyond painting into ceramics, cardboard creations, and other mediums. Emily will be an art completer under CHS art teacher, Christina Swint and will receive a cord for Art IV for graduation. Emily’s artwork will be on public display throughout August at the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center.
