Kay Asher

Kay Asher, 82, of Corning passed away August 6, 2022 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Mrs. Asher was born June 28, 1940 in Corning. She was retired from Neelyville School District where she was an administrative assistant. Kay loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed knitting, crotcheting, and teaching piano. She taught piano in the Corning area for 60 plus years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Corning where she played the organ since she was 16 years old. Kay played the organ and piano for church services, weddings, funerals, Christmas Eve communions, and any other event to occur. There is no facet of Corning UMC that wasn’t touched by her love of music and talents. Handbells, youth chimes, church history, library, UMW, shawl ministry and the best desserts ever for potluck. The list is endless as was the love for her church. She was also the organist and pianist for St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Corning for many years and enjoyed her extended church family. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by those she touched.

Survivors include her children Angela Asher of Birmingham, AL, Cliff (Deborah) Asher of St. Louis, MO, Melissa Vancil of Salem, WI and Rob (Jacqueline) Asher of Paragould; grandchildren Foster Asher, Sidney Asher, Nathan Vancil, Brian Vancil, Cobie Asher and Georgia Asher; and sister-in-law Betty Cochran of Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Frances Annis (Harold) Cochran and brother Col. Frank Cochran.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Corning on Thursday August 18, 2022 at 10 a.m. with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at Corning Cemetery.
