Homer Harrell Melton, 81, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away April 15, 2022, at Piggott General Baptist Nursing Home in Piggott, Arkansas.

He was born on June 1, 1940, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the son of Thurman and Lula Bell (Stokes) Melton.

Homer was united in marriage to Georgia Clifton on May 21, 1987.

Homer enjoyed woodworking and drawing. He could make anything. He spent a lot of time in his Pankin shed, as his grandkids called it, making furniture and home decor for his family to use. His family was his whole life. He never had a lot of material items but he had a lot of family and a lot of love to give. He was the most kind hearted man and a good man his entire life. To know him was to love him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Lula Bell Melton; wife, Georgia Melton; six brothers, J.T. Melton, Don Melton, Thomas Melton, Larry Melton, Gerane Melton, and Roger Frazee; and son-in-law, Kin Allen.

Homer is survived by his three daughters, Lesa (Roger) Beck of Piggott, Arkansas, Vonda Samples of Gideon, Missouri, Michelle (Greg) Bradshaw of Greenway, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Rocky (Kandace) Beck, Kortney (Brandon) Smart, Jeremy (Sierra) Toombs, Kasey (Casey) Banning, Tyler Samples, KB (Jessica) Toombs, Blakely (Zach Childers) Bradshaw, and John Daniel (Alivia) Beck; twenty-three great grandchildren; brother, Ewell Melton of Paragould, Arkansas; three sisters, Marie Kilbreath of McDougal, Arkansas, Dora Mae Beecher of McDougal, Arkansas, and Veda Stagg; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Shawn Parker officiating and Bro. Kevin Murray assisting. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Rocky Beck, Jeremy Toombs, KB Toombs, Tyler Samples, John Daniel Beck, Devin Beck, Brandon Smart, and Casey Banning. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Samples, Bill Veal, Greg Bradshaw, and Roger Beck. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
