Donald Doyle Jackson

Donald Doyle Jackson passed away at Westwood Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Poplar Bluff, MO on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the age of 92. He was born November 23, 1929, to Oscar (OW) and Mary (Clifton) Jackson in Harrisburg, AR.
Donald married Barbara Townsend Jackson and to this union three children were born. He absolutely loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Karen Jackson of Machesney Park, IL; Leslie (Lisa) Jackson of Corning, AR; Dorla Matlock of Edmond, OK. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Aaron Jackson of Dallas, TX; Brynn Jackson of Corning, AR; Shannon (Josh) Fowler of Fairdealing, MO; Josh (Christina) Matlock of Colorado Springs, CO; Kristen (Jake) Thurman of Oklahoma City, OK; and Libby (Nick) McCullough of Machesney Park, IL. Donald also left three great grandchildren that were the apples of his eye: Jackson and Meyer Fowler of Fairdealing, MO; Lilly Gleason of Machesney Park, IL. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers Gerald and Mike Jackson, sisters Christine Wallace and Polly Prince, and his son in law, Rusty Matlock.
Donald had an active farm life. At the age of 9, Donald and his family relocated to the Knobel area and a couple years later purchased a farm northeast of Corning. He worked with his father and older brother to clear the land of timber, build roads, and grow crops. In 1941, he and his family were among the first rice farmers in the area. Donald, Gerald, and OW were involved with establishing a Riceland Food facility in Corning. After the passing of Gerald and OW, he continued to farm the family farm and expanded his business to leave a great legacy for his family. He was a farmer in the Corning Community for 65+ years before his retirement in 2005. Even after retirement he made sure to keep an eye on the crops and educate those around him on farming!
Donald proudly served during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Donald was a proud member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Donald also had a great talent and love for playing the piano and has written many copyrighted songs. His friends and many others in the area loved to listen to him play piano over the years. He enjoyed playing cards, pool, and was a lifelong Cardinal fan. He also enjoyed studying the Bible.
Visitation will be at Ermert Funeral Home on Saturday, July 9th from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Corning cemetery following the services.
