Cynthia Gail Hart-Layton

Cynthia Gail Hart-Layton, 59, of Maynard passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Cynthia, lovingly known as Ninnie and Mrs. Tubby, was born January 30, 1962, in Pocahontas to Joseph Gary and Dorothy Jean Johnson Hart. She was a retired schoolteacher having taught at Doniphan, Bay, and Couch. She enjoyed art, deer hunting, shopping, and crafting. She was a member of Old Reyno Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Ethel Hart, Johnnie and Vera Johnson, and Russell “Doc” Spencer; and aunts and uncles, Charles and Carolyn Johnson, and Bob and Mary Johnson.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Michael “Tubby” Layton; daughters, Julie (Matt) York of Lake City and Angie (Carl) Tweedy) of Maynard; grandchildren, Christian and Zachary York; parents, Gary and Dorothy Hart of Corning; sister, Suzy Parks of Corning; nieces, Brooke and Sabrina; nephew, Lyman; great niece, Harper; great nephew, Owen; aunts and uncles, Marsha (Larry) High of Biggers, Jim (Marie) Johnson of Corning, Don (Alfreda) Spencer of Doniphan, and Carrol “Bart” (Myra) Spencer of Doniphan; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from 10 AM -12 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 12 PM with J.M. Edington and Jed Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Johnston Cemetery at Reyno.

Pallbearers will include Ralph Morrow, Charlie Tyler, Lindsey Ringo, Sam High, Carl Lee Tweedy, and Delbert Alphin.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Larry High.
