Corning High School alumni will have the opportunity to relive their glory days on the court as the school hosts an alumni basketball game on May 10.

The Corning Bobcat basketball team is hosting a four man scramble golf tournament as a fundraiser. The golf tournament will be held on April 19 at the M.B. Ainley Golf Course starting at 8 a.m. It is $100 to sponsor a hole. There will be a limit of 20 teams at $240 per team. The payout will be as follows, first place-$400, second place-$320 and third place-$240. There will also be a 50/50 raffle held. Concessions will also be available. Corning Bobcats selected for 2A-3 All Conference
The Corning Community will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 12 at the Victory Lake Sports Complex. The event will be open to the public with fun activities for children that include an egg hunt, pictures with the Easter Bunny, games, face painting, free food and giveaways. There are sponsorship opportunities available. All donations will help with purchasing food, drinks, Easter eggs, candy and giveaways. Make checks payable to Corning Area Chamber of Commerce, P.O. A Say “Yes” to the Dress Event will be held on March 15 at the Corning High School auditorium. The event is hosted by Corning School District T.H.R.I.V.E.S. (Teaching hope, resilience, inclusion, values and empathy for every student). They will be accepting donations of dresses, sports jackets, shoes, jewelry and more. The drop-off locations are Young’s Auctions and Resale or the Corning High School office. The goal of the event is to provide a fun, free event to high school students for prom. Community involvement is so important in the success of the s chool district.
There will be a Community Expo on March 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the M.B. Ainley Jr. Community Center. The event will be a business expo and a health and career/job fair. 1st Choice Healthcare will be providing free vision and hearing screenings. The Mobile Workforce Center will be providing employment services, Pocahontas Medical Clinic will provide free glucose, blood pressure and BMI screenings, while Piggott Health System will be providing free stroke risk screenings. The Corning Park Elementary Gifted and Talented will be selling treats, crafts and scented products at the event.
