Bolen named Best Under the Sun

Corning Lady Bobcat Whitley Bolen was recently named to the Best Under the Sun Girls Basketball Team by the Jonesboro Sun. Bolen was a force to be reckoned with during the Lady Bobcats’ 2021-2022 season. She earned All-State and 3A-3 All-Conference honors while leading the team averaging 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals during the season. The Lady Bobcats ultimately won the 3A-3 Conference Champions.

Sports Banquet – May 9

The Corning High School Sports Banquet will be held Monday, May 9 at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. The PRIDE Booster Club will be feeding 6th grade trap shooters and athletes in grades 7-12 following the banquet at the Parkview Restaurant. Athletes must have signed up in the school office for the meal by May 4. There is a $5 fee when signing up if bringing a date to the meal that doesn’t attend CHS or is not an athlete.

Lady Cats declaw Lady Lions in 1st round of Districts

Tuesday, April 26, the Lady Bobcats defeated Manila in the first round of Districts. Corning fired up the offense in the first inning when Presley Martin singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. The Lady Cats tallied 7 runs in the 4th inning. Kylie Zimmer, Kenlie Watson, Martin, Whitley Bolen, Katie Zimmer and Kelsey Arnold each had RBIs in the big inning. The Lady Cats gave up 3 runs in the 5th inning and still managed to defeat Manila by a score of 15-3 in their first outing in District play.

Lady Bobcats lose in 2nd round of Districts

The Corning Lady Bobcats traveled to Walnut Ridge on April 27 for the second round of district play against Hoxie. An early lead for the Lady Mustangs seals the fate of the Lady Bobcats. The Lady Cats fell behind early and could not fight their way back in a 16-6 loss to the Lady Mustangs. Hoxie scored on a single by Mykala Johnson, a walk by Blaze Lorren, a double by Jaecie Brown and a single by Kylie Jones in the first inning.

Arkansas Chiefs place 2nd in CTS tournament

The Arkansas Chiefs took second place in the CT Sports Presents Everette Triple Crown 3rd Leg All State Qualifer in Bryant, Arkansas on April 3- - May 1, 2022. Senior Night

The Lady Bobcats, Coaches Jerry Songer and Tyler Golden honor senior Kelsey Arnold holding her plaque and softball on Senior Night. The Corning Lady Bobcats celebrated Senior Night with a pre-game recognition presentation of a plaque and softball from Coach Jerry Songer to senior Kelsey Arnold.
