Free Fishing Weekend and fishing derbies on Saturday, June 11

According to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, local residents of all ages will want to bring their fishing gear and bait to the annual fishing derby at William H. Donham State Fish Hatchery, 3587 Hwy 67 West in Corning on Saturday, June 11 from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. Families will enjoy a morning of fishing with a limit of three fish per angler. Each family group will need to include at least one child. Each family member should be registered. It is free fishing weekend, so a license will not be required. Traditionally, these derbies were only for anglers 12 and younger, but recently the AGFC raised the age limit, and eventually did away with it altogether. Now, anyone who registers at www.agfc.com is welcome to join in the fun.
