In the first night of District play, the Bobcats faced familiar opponent and cross county rivals the Piggott Mohawks on Tuesday, Feb. 13 in Osceola. This victory is the fourth win for Corning over Piggott this season. It was a tight game at the half with the Bobcats in the lead with a score of 31-27.

Senior Whitley Bolen exceeded 1,500 points in her career as a Lady Bobcat during the Osceola game on Tuesday, Feb. 14 when the Lady Cats upset the #2 seed Lady Seminoles. The win improved Corning’s record to 24-6 overall. Bolen will have an opportunity to further increase upon her career points as the win against Osceola secures a spot in the District Championship Finals on Thursday night, Feb. 16.

The Jr. Bobcats lost to Gosnell’s Jr. Pirates in the District 3A-3 Jr. High Tournament in Corning on Monday, Feb. 6. The Jr. Cats were within close range of Gosnell in the first quarter and began falling away during the 2nd quarter. The final score was 68-39.
Corning’s boys basketball team received an unexpected vacation not only from school but away from the court last week, as crummy weather cancelled school, practices and a pair of late regular- season games last Tuesday through Friday.

Corning Sr. Girls played the Lady Lions of Manila in a conference game on Monday, Feb. 6 at Corning on Senior Night. At the end of the first quarter the score was Corning 4, Manila 17 with 7 fouls for Manila and 4 fouls on Corning. The second quarter ended with the Bobcats catching up to the Lady Lions with a tie, 26-26 with the assistance of Kenlie Watson who was hot at the 3-point line.
