Four Man Scramble held to benefit boy’s basketball

The Corning Boys Basketball first annual golf tournament was held on Saturday, April 8 at 8 a.m. at the Victory Lake Golf Course. Corning Boy’s Basketball Coach Wes Couch said the Four Man Scramble was a huge success. There were 17 teams of 4 players that engaged in the tournament. Players enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks sold during the fundraiser to benefit the basketball team, as well as a contest to giveaway a putter won by Josh Breeds. An auction of donated golf items was held afterwards to further procure funds for the basketball program.

Lady Bobcats fall to Rivercrest; 5-4

In Game 2 of a doubleheader played at Rivercrest on Tuesday, April 4, the Lady Colts exacted their revenge beating Corning in the final play of the game with the score tied at 4 and Rivercrest at bat in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Lady Bobcats lost despite out-hitting the Colts 9-4. Rivercrest fired up their offense in the second inning, when #4 singled on an 0-2 count, scoring 1 run.

eSports players seal playoff spots

In eSports competitions last week, the Corning eSport teams went 3-1. On Wednesday, March 29, the League of Legends and Smash team 2 lost their games while the Smash team 1 secured a win in a nail biter. Wyatt Murray took it to the wire and finished off his opponent. Jayce Couch and Carson Dowdy both won their matches of NBA 2k23 and have clinched playoff spots in NBA 2k23. Playoffs start Monday, April 10, 2023.
