Bobcats overpower ICC; 58-16 First of all, our team would like to thank the Corning community for the support at the game on Friday at Izard County. Our stands easily had more in attendance than the home side bleachers! Our Senior High team improved to 1-1 with a 58-16 win over ICC.
Last Friday we opened the season against a very good Rector team, losing 20-0. Rector was the state runner up last year and they played a very physical game and did not make mistakes.
The Bobcats experienced their first game play in the 8-man format on Friday evening, August 18 as they traveled to Brinkley for a scrimmage game. The scrimmage resulted in a tie, 14-14. The Bobcats will face the Cougars at Rector on Monday night, August 28. The game was moved to Monday due to the high temperature predicted for Friday night. The Jr. Bobcat game will start at 5 p.m. with the Bobcats beginning at 7 p.m.
It was a fine day to hit the green as the Corning Golf Team hosted boys and girls’ teams from Manila, Rivercrest, Rector, Piggott, and Buffalo Island Central (BIC) on Thursday, August 17 at the Victory Lake Golf Course.
The Bobcats will kickoff their 2023 football season when they face the Cougars on August 25 at Rector in the first game implementing the 8-man format. Two Corning Bobcats recently received player assessments from the Reebok Basketball Tournament. Jayce Couch was commended for his shooting skills and attitude and Luke Blanchard was applauded for his skills initiating the offense and leadership.
The Corning Boys’ Bobcats Basketball teams recently participated in the Williams Baptist University Team Camps. On Friday, July 21, the Bobcats faced Tuckerman, Gosnell and White County Central while the Jr. Bobcats competed against the teams of Manila, Riverside and Ridgefield Christian on Thursday, July 20.
