Lady Bobcats named 3A-3 All Conference

Seniors Presley Martin, Katie Karr, and Kenlie Watson and Jr. Olivia Compton were recently selected as 3A-3 All Conference players for 2024. The Lady Cats had an outstanding season with only two returning starters and accomplished 21 wins, Conference Runner -Up, 1st National Bank Runner-up and a trip to Regionals. The Lady Bobcats were one game away from a trip to State.

Bobcats turn up heat against Marmaduke; 14-4

Bobcat Baseball started with a season opener against Marmaduke on Friday, March 1st. The Senior High Bobcats took charge at the plate and claimed the 14-4 victory. Junior Reid McMasters led the way going 2-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Cannon Cummings and Rodney Rapert and Cole Kemp contributed doubles to add runs on the board. Kemp went 2-2 with two RBIs and Rapert went 1-3 with two RBIs. Izaiah Hollowell also drove in two runs and Ty Price and Jake VanNada both drove in one run each.

Bobcats roar past Wildcats; 11-9

The Bobcats snagged their second win yesterday in a come-from-behind victory against the Trumann Wildcats on Monday, March 4 at home. The Bobcats started out slow, trailing 6-0 going into the bottom of the second inning. The Bobcats battled in the bottom of the second to tie the game up 6-6. The Bobcats scored another in the third and added four more in the fifth inning to finish out their 11 runs. Trumann didn’t go down easy and came up with three more runs in the top of the sixth inning but it wasn’t enough to regain the lead and the Bobcats claimed the win 11-9.

Bobcats end season in 1st round of State Tournament; 60-47

The Corning Bobcats enjoyed a ticket to ride to the 3A State Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 28 in Elkins, Arkansas for the first time in 45 years. The Cats sparred against the McGehee Owls in a tight game of back and forth with McGehee ahead by 2 points, 27-25 at the half. The third quarter remained neck and neck going into the final quarter; 43-41 with the Owls ahead by 2 points. Corning collected 6 fouls in each of the 1st and 4th quarters, for a total of 15 foul calls during the game. Jayce Couch had 4 foul calls while Roman Davis fouled out in an effort to halt McGehee’s momentum. The Owls had a total of 7 fouls the entire game with Chris Jones #3 noted for fouling 4 times. McGehee took a foothold on the lead and defeated the Bobcats; 60-47.
