The Corning Park Elementary PAWS is sponsoring Donuts with Grown-Ups. This is meant to be a special morning where kids and their favorite grown-ups come together for donuts, conversation and fun. Each grade will have its own special day.

MMRS, LLC out of Paragould has been working on replacing sewer lines in southern Corning, pictured here shows their work at the intersection of Southwest 4th Street and Lucien Aveune. In addition to the improvements on Southwest 4th Street, they will also be replacing sewer lines in the alleys of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Streets in the general area. The City of Corning put out bids for the wastewater collection system improvements on June 4, 2024 and MMRS, LLC won the bid for the project.
The Corning Park Elementary PAWS organization is looking for volunteers for the upcoming school year. PAWS is looking for enthusiastic and active parent volunteers to join their team. On Sunday, July 6 the First United Methodist Church in Corning and Pocahontas welcomed the Reverend George Odell as their new pastor. Pocahontas FUMC was previously served by Rev. Pat Bodenhamer from July 2019 to June of this year when she decided to take a leave of absence. She has recently completed the non-traditional certification teacher’s exam and will be the seventh and eighth grade English teacher at Pocahontas Junior High School. Corning FUMC was previously served by Rev. Lisa Girard from July 2022 until February of this year when she resigned due to health reasons. As part of this shared pastorate, service times will be changing for both churches. At Corning, the new time will be 8:30 a.m. and at Pocahontas, 10:15 a.m.
The city of Corning is mourning the loss of Lue Stacy, affectionately known throughout the community as “Momma Lue,” who passed away July 14 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

The Knobel Mustang School Reunion was held July 5 at the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center in Corning. The gymnasium was full of an estimated 180+ former students from the 1940s to the 1980s, many of them wearing Knobel Mustang T-shirts and caps. The last graduating class of Knobel High School was in 1985.
