The annual Clay County Fair pageants are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Commercial Exhibit Building on the Clay County Fairgrounds in Piggott.

The annual McDougal Homecoming Picnic is set for Saturday, Aug. 30, at Edna Cooper Park along U.S. Highway 62.
Around mid-July C.R. Crawford Construction began their demolition work to remove sections of the Corning High School and Corning Middle School campus. Superintendent Jennifer Woolard says that, “We are hopeful the demolition will be complete by August 13, the first day of classes. We are waiting on final approval of our plans for construction. Once those get approved we will send out bid packages and get going on accepting bids. I am hoping construction will begin 2-4 weeks after demo is complete. Right now the construction management company is saying 18.5 months from start of construction to completion.”
Due to natural disasters this Spring in various parts of Arkansas, Governor Sanders issued Executive Orders 2508 and 25-09 extending the deadline to file an income tax return for citizens in all 75 counties. The Orders extended the deadline to file a state income tax return from April 15, 2025 to July 31, 2025.

This store branded bread will replace the Best Choice brand of bread which 10Box previously offered. It will be available on store shelves in 20 oz. sliced sandwich bread, 8 ct. hamburger buns, and 8 ct. hotdog buns in both white and wheat with no high fructose corn syrup.
Koss Construction Company, a group contracted by the Arkansas Department of Transportation has completed the three concrete pylons for the County Road 139 overpass over Future I-57. This construction is part of the larger Corning Bypass Project (Job No. 101172) which started in February of this year which is expected to be completed by mid-2027. County Road 139 was the road chosen from input given at the public meeting that ARDOT held on March 14, 2024, at the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center to create an overpass for local traffic. County Road 143 meanwhile will soon dead end where the new road intersects with it. Utility companies have been busy both west and north of Corning relocating their lines around where the interchanges with US 67 will be built.
