Semi crashes into Current River; results in secondary accident

An 18-wheeler took an unexpected detour when it drove through the guard rail, off the Current River Bridge on Hwy 67 in Randolph County and into the Current River on Monday, May 27 at approximately 3 p.m. Photos from Randolph County Sheriff Kevin Bell show the scene on Monday as deputies and the Arkansas State Police worked the accident. The driver of the semi was not injured.

CSD announces TOY and EOY for 2024

The Corning School District has announced Shawna Radcliff is the 2024 Teacher of the Year for the district and Andera Edwards has been recognized as the district’s Employee of the Year. Superintendent Jennifer Woolard said, “Both Mrs. Radcliff and Mrs. Edwards exemplify the qualities that we want our staff to have. They both go above and beyond to assist our students and their families as well as serve as mentors for our staff. We are very fortunate that they are part of our Bobcat family.”

CSD honors four retirees

The Corning School District honored four retiring faculty and staff members on Thursday, May 23 in the high school cafeteria. Pictured are Jerry Songer, Girls Head Basketball and Softball Coach, who has coached in the Corning School District for 12 years; Marlena Beeman, 2nd Grade teacher, who has taught students in the district for 25 years; Pam Elders, who has served Corning students for 29 years, first as counselor at the high school and then at Park Elementary; and Donna Hannah, who has served the district in the cafeteria at Park Elementary for seven years.
