Clear skies and good crowds were the order of the day Saturday, July 13, as the 91st annual Pollard Picnic was held. Each year the event is held at the picnic grounds in Pollard, with the proceeds benefiting the continued up keep of the New Hope Cemetery.
Clay County Quorum Court met on Monday, July 15 at the courthouse in Piggott with Justices Dennis Haines, Patrick Patterson, David Hatcher, George Lowe, Neal Smith, Randy Kingston, Brad Green and David Cagle in attendance and Justice Jody Henderson absent.

The boys, in partnership with Tony and Nick Hudson, set up the stand at one of the city’s busiest intersections Wednesday morning (at Gregory and Highway 67).

It was a short July city council meeting with only one item on the agenda. With all members of the Corning municipal board present on Monday, July 8, the council set about the business of discussing city funds at 6 p.m.
The annual Clay County Field Day Tours will be held Wednesday, July 24 in Western Clay County and Thursday, July 25 in Eastern Clay County. The tours will showcase demonstrations of new corn hybrids, rice, soybean and cotton varieties. Extension specialists will be on hand to give production updates. In addition, seed company representatives will provide information about their products.
