Arkansas State Police reported a deadly crash at 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug.
General Election Ballot Draw set for Nov. 9
The Clay County Board of Election Commissioners has announced that the Ballot Draw for the November 9, 2024, General Election will be held on Friday, August 23, at 4:00 p.m. at the Piggott Courthouse. The public is invited to attend. Any questions about this matter should be directed to the Clay County Election Coordinator, Karen Cagle, at (870) 240-3295.

August 21, 2014 It was obvious Monday morning that the fall school term was getting underway as students arrived at the front entrance of Central Elementary School. Principal Heather Clifton was at the top of the stairs greeting a few first arrivals.
Lunsford awarded MSU-WP Scholarship
Lexi Lunsford of Corning was awarded the Arkansas Tuition Scholarship from officials at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) for the 20242025 academic year. Students were selected from those who applied based on ACT (American College Test) scores, grade point average, standing in their graduating class and leadership shown in the community and in school activities.
Annual Lions Club Raffle Underway
The Corning Lions Club has begun their annual fundraising raffle. Every year they give away $10,000 with proceeds from ticket sales going directly to the local Lions Club for sight conservation. Only 200 tickets, each a $100 donation, will be sold to be given away Saturday, October 26, 2024. Participants do not have to be present to win. Tickets are available from Lions members, Red Taylor Ford or Shear Magic owned by Tami McKinney.

McClung graduates D.A.R.E. training
Corning Police Corporal Micayla McClung successfully completed the two-week (80 hour) D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Officer training in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Friday, July 26. During the training McClung learned facilitation/instruction, classroom management techniques, learning modalities enhancement, communication/ public speaking skills and a working knowledge of the D.A.R.E curriculum, in the high school, middle school, and elementary school curriculum.
