Corning Chamber Christmas Banquet celebrates community and holiday cheer
The 2024 Corning Chamber Christmas Banquet brought holiday spirit and community together on Dec. 12, making the annual event a resounding success. Attendees gathered for an evening filled with festivities, including a table decorating contest, prizes, and entertainment.

The holiday spirit was in full swing this past Saturday as Christmas in the Park returned to Wynn Park, marking its 28th year as one of Corningâs most cherished traditions. The annual event, which began in 1996, continues to captivate the community, drawing families, friends and visitors for an enchanting evening filled with festive lights and holiday cheer.

AGFC conservation scholarships lay path toward bright future
Arkansas students interested in a conservation career may be able to find a little tuition assistance thanks to the colorful wildlife-themed license plates found on cars throughout The Natural State. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commissionâs Conservation Scholarship Program is accepting applications for the 2025-26 academic year until Dec. 31, 2024.
Number of whooping cough cases reported higher than last year
Arkansas has reported over 200 cases of pertussis this year, which is at least five times higher than the number of pertussis cases reported last year.

Two arrested on drug and trespassing charges following suspicious activity in Rector
On Nov. 26, the Clay County Sheriffâs Department was notified by Rector Police Officers about suspicious activity involving two vehicles in the Harpâs parking lot. A deputy near Rector observed the vehicles leaving the parking lot. The vehicles traveled south on Highway 119 and turned left onto County Road 508.
