Hello everyone. We had a few nice days of weather, beautiful sunshiny days, which can fool you, thinking it’s warm outside then that cold wind hits you. I’m not going to complain too much as long as the sun shines and brightens the day. I feel lucky to have been able to enjoy all four seasons. Even if we have to deal with the cold and sometimes extremely hot weather. Not a lot of states get all four seasons to enjoy.

January is, on average, the coldest month of the year. And that means one thing.

State Rep. Joe Jett – (R) announced on his Facebook page on Monday, Jan. 17 his decision not to run for re-election as State Representative for soon to be District 1, representing Clay County and portions of Greene, Randolph, and Lawrence counties. In his online statement he disclosed, “Lisa and I wanted to share with you how much of an honor and privilege it has been to represent you in our great State of Arkansas. The significance of you allowing me to serve this district is not lost on me and I find that fact extremely humbling. So, I would be remiss if I did not take the time to say thank you. Please feel free to call on me if I can ever be of help. God bless each and every one of you.” Jett has an official statement published on page 9 of this issue of the Clay County Courier.

There are birds all over the planet Earth. There may be some birds in your backyard right now. Many birds migrate during different times of the year looking for warmer or cooler weather, or to find food. There are birds that never migrate because they are made to live in a certain climate zone. Tropical birds don’t migrate. These birds live in tropical rainforests where it is warm year round, and there is always plenty of food. They are some of the most colorful and smartest birds on the planet. Certain tropical birds can be taught to dance, do tricks like playing fetch and even talk. Some tropical birds, like the hyacinth macaw, are endangered.
