In elementary school, we had a lot of parties. Little kids and parties go together like peanut butter and jelly, so each one was eagerly awaited. Although Christmas was considered the best, with a gift exchange and a visit from Santa, Valentines Day came in second.

I once had one of my good friends come and speak to my students about his growing career as a real estate agent. He talked about how he started his business, ways he has grown it, and really about the joy he finds in his work. At the end of his talk, he was taking questions from students, and one of my high schoolers asked, “Where did you go to college?”
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the 2022 Arkansas Century Farm program. This program recognizes Arkansas families who have owned and farmed the same land for at least 100 years.

This week’s spotlight is on our CHS Drama Club. Led by sponsor Wanda Patterson, the drama club has thirteen members, of which two are seniors. This diverse group of students includes cheerleaders, band, choir, art students, and football players and, due to Covid issues, the November performance included a sixth grader! According to Mrs. Patterson, “the melting pot of personalities and interests keeps the group lively.”
Peach Orchard, as well as other small towns in Clay County, must decide how to spend the federal funding coming our way. After receiving the first release of the ARPA funding in July of 2021, we have been studying options for the best use of those funds. Peach Orchard City Council hesitates to make a hurried decision and have been studying our options. In the interim, the rules for spending have changed. The final rule takes effect on April 1, 2022.
