CherryRoad Media expands newspaper holdings with Oklahoma and Texas purchases, now in 10 states

A New Jersey-based media group that owns four Arkansas newspapers has increased its holdings by acquiring from Gannett Co., Inc., a group of newspapers in Oklahoma and Texas. CherryRoad Media, Inc., owns the Pocahontas StarHerald, the Clay County Courier in Corning, the Marshall Mountain Wave and the Mountaineer-Echo in Flippin. Its new Texas acquisitions include the Herald Democrat in Sherman, Waxahachie Daily Light, Stephenville Empire-Tribune, Brownwood Bulletin, Alice Echo-News Journal, Van Alstyne Leader, Anna-Melissa Tribune, Prosper Press, Grayson County Shopper, Midlothian Mirror, Runnels County Register, Glen Rose Reporter, Cross Timbers Trading Post and Shop Local.

GCT holds annual meeting

Growing Corning Together held a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at The Oaks on 2 Street in Corning at 6:00 pm. The group learned about project updates, new opportunities and elected officers for 2022. The new officers are: President – George Lowe, Vice-President – Gala Blanchard, Secretary – Paige Catt and Treasurer – Kim Scoggin.

Clay Co. Democrats hold Feb. meeting

The Democratic Party of Clay County held their February meeting at Carmilio’s Mexican Restaurant in Rector on Thursday, Feb. 10, as they look forward to the upcoming midterm elections. With 12 members in attendance, including State Representative Candidate Teresa Roofe, the group was able to generate a lot of energy and excitement. The Clay County Democrats share her priorities which are supportive of the small towns which make up our district and all the hard-working people who keep them going.
