Arkansas launches Respite Care Program to support families living with dementia

Little Rock, AR – The Arkansas Legislative Council on Friday, June 17, approved the creation of and funding for the Dementia Respite Care Pilot Program to support the 93,000+ Arkansans providing care for loved ones with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. The program, the first of its kind in Arkansas, was established by the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Advisory Council, part of Act 391 of the 93rd General Assembly.

STATE CAPITOL WEEK IN REVIEW

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas School Safety Commission has been set up again to update measures to protect students while they are in school. The governor issued an executive order to reinstate the commission in the wake of the mass murder of 19 children and two adults at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24.

MBACC adds reading area

The M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center has recently added an area for reading and studying with free highspeed broadband internet available. Those who would like to use the internet to study, apply for employment, work on taxes, conduct important business or for entertainment can come to the community center.
