BURN BAN ISSUED

The office of County Judge Mike Patterson has issued a Burn Ban for Clay County on Sept. 27, 2022 until further notice. Arkansas House Bill 1883 allows for an exemption to a burn ban to burn off crops following harvest.

Statewide community flu vaccine clinics start Sept. 26

Little Rock, Ark.– The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) will be providing flu vaccines across the state in preparation for the 2022-2023 flu season starting Monday, September 26. Each county health unit in Arkansas will be hosting a community flu vaccine clinic, which is typically a day-long event when the health unit and numerous community volunteers come together to provide flu vaccine to as many people as possible.

One of my favorite songs, though I can’t remember it ever hitting the hit parade, or making the top forties, was Bob Hope’s good bye song. The song he used to close most of his acts was “Thanks for the Memory”.

School Board meets following Annual Report

The Corning School District presented its Annual Report to the Public and Title I Meeting on September 27, 2022. At the conclusion of the annual report the board continued with the monthly meeting with four board members present; Kirk Scobey, Kenny Francis, Billy Allen, and Vickie Robinson. President Keith Turner was unable to attend. Minutes and financial reports were approved followed by the employment of Randy Jackson as bus driver. The board approved the addition of basketball shot clock keeper to the supplemental salary schedule at a rate of $20 per game. Shot clocks will be used during senior high games only.
