Alabama, Arizona, Hawaii Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and West Virginia are the only states without a reported case of the highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry, according to the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the U.S. Agriculture Department.

The Arkansas State Highway Commission recently announced the release of the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for Federal Fiscal Years 20232026. One of the projects of particular interest to Corning residents is the I-57 project from the Missouri state line to Walnut Ridge. Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority Executive Director, Graycen Bigger announced the exciting news during the Intermodal’s monthly meeting at Clay County Electric in Corning on Thursday, Sept. 29. Bigger explained that the STIP is the State Highway Commission’s Bible. “If it’s in here, they have to do it. And both I-57 from the stateline to Walnut Ridge and the Pocahontas bypass did make it.”
