Tiny house zoning and code issues deferred to state inspectors

During the Oct. 10, city council meeting a discussion during the public comments concerning a small building or tiny dwelling off Main Street led to a public meeting called by the council on Thursday, Oct. 20. Corning resident Shelly Pugh came to the regular council meeting to discuss the structure that had been placed on property that is in the former location of the Main Street Pentecostal Church that has recently been demolished and located behind her home.

Shop with a Hero provides multilateral support to community

Corning Cares, a local philanthropic organization, concerned with the wants and essentials of local children during the Christmas holidays is preparing for its 8th annual “Shop with a Hero” event slated for Saturday, December 3, 2022. The mission of the Shop with a Hero event is threefold. While it ensures that children in families with need receive Christmas presents and have a happy holiday season, it also allows children to see local law enforcement, firefighters, First Responders as friends and people they can rely on all while assisting businesses and the City of Corning as the organization spends an average of $10,000 per year in local shops. This year the families will be shopping at the following Corning establishments: 3 Little Monkeys, Harold Implement, Dollar General and Shabby Chic.
