Carter receives award for research paper

Ryan Carter was recently awarded the NEARA Award for Exemplary Archival Research for his research paper titled “The Assassination of Black Pioneer ‘Old Jim’ Hanover and the Struggle for Justice in the Upper White River District.” His paper tells the story of “Old Jim’s” life, the tragedy of his death, and the struggle to secure justice for is brutal murder and that of others in the Freedman’s Bureau Upper White River District.

Clay County Election Committee to hold testing

The public testing, and logic and accuracy test, for the upcoming May 13 Election in Clay County will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 26. The testing will be conducted at the Corning election warehouse, located at 435 Southwest Second Street in Corning. The testing is open to the public.
