WBU Announces Fall ‘22 President’s and Dean’s List Honorees
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/19/23) - Williams Baptist University has released the names of students on the President’s and Dean’s Lists for the 2022 fall semester. The President’s List includes those full-time students who achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, while the Dean’s List consists of those with at least a 3.5 GPA.

Cedar waxwings grace gardens throughout winter in The Natural State
The cedar waxwing is one of Arkansas’s most striking winter residents, although it does not stand out with garish plumage. Instead of sporting raucous colors or flitting about in dizzying displays of hops and jumps, waxwings are some of the sleekest, most elegant-looking birds likely to grace your backyard or hedge.
Addison Goodman named to Fall 2022 Dean’s List
MAGNOLIA, AR (01/17/2023)-- Addison Michele Goodman earned a 3.5 GPA or higher in the fall 2022 semester, securing a reputable position on Southern Arkansas University’s Dean’s List. Goodman is a junior Agricultural Business major from Corning, AR.
Local man killed in crash on Hwy. 67
According to a report from the Arkansas State Police, a local man, Billy R. Waymon, 88, of Corning was killed in a headon crash on US 67 near County Road 127, west of downtown Corning on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. The crash occurred at 12 p.m. when a 2019 Chevrolet 2500 pickup driven by Dale Ray Griffin, 72 of Dexter, traveling west crossed the center line and hit the eastbound 2009 Toyota pickup driven by Waymon.

Corning City Council meets second Monday of each month, 6:00 p.m., in City Hall. Clay County Quorum Court, Third Monday each month, 7:00 p.m., alternating between Corning and Piggott courthouses.
Pesticide Applicator Training
Date: January 31, 2023 @ 6 PM at the Clay County Extension Office in Piggott located at 148 East Main Street. All private applicator training sessions provided by the Cooperative Extension Service will cost $20 per person, payable at the end of the training.
