Rosemary “Rosie” Smith October 14, 1930 April 28, 2012 Rosie was interested in sketching at an early age. She started oil painting about 1970 then continued to about 2006. She became very interested in Indian artifacts after moving to their farm which is located in Success where some of the Indians on the Trail of Tears went through near Current View. She loved Indians and began painting them after inspirations from collecting arrowheads. She took a trip to Taos, New Mexico with Pat Ballenger Herd in 1998 to explore and take some painting lessons. A trip of a lifetime for her! She loved her painting trailer on the farm until she had to move to town (Corning in 1997). Many Corning residents have some of her paintings that she had shared. Her paintings still remain and will be passed on to kids and grandkids. If you are interested in a canvas copy of one of her paintings please get in contact with her daughter, Debbie.
