In hopes of a better self

This morning I made big mistake. I happened to look at myself in the mirror as I walked by. Holy Cow, Larry! I almost mean that literally, lol. Yes, I do know that it is a tendency for all of us to put on a little weight in our golden years. Those raging hormones that help to keep us trim close their little eyes after years of raging and take a nap on the couch. Our physical duties become less, and we start to get a craving for “comfort foods.” After passing the mirror, my next step was the kitchen; the site of the battlefield over nutrition and self-satisfaction. Then off to work, or school, or whatever the day demands, resupplying our fuel at the local McDonalds or Burger King or personal choice of fast food where, here again, we are overloaded with fat, salt, or more sugar. They are America’s drugs of choice, along with alcohol, which is terrible for you as well, destroying more livers than chickens donate for Sunday dinner. Yes, alcohol. Alcoholic beverages con
