Pollard Picnic Wrap Up

Favorable weather and good crowds were the order of the day Saturday, July 8, as the 90th annual Pollard Picnic was held. Each year the event is held at the picnic grounds in Pollard, with the proceeds benefiting the continued upkeep of the New Hope Cemetery.

AGFC offers Game Warden Ride Along

Arkansans have an opportunity to apply to accompany an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Game Warden on a ride along. Citizens must meet the following requirements and submit the application found at: https://www.agfc. com/en/game-warden- ride-along/. Applications must be typed and then signed before submission. Completed applications should be submitted to Ashley. Turley@agfc.ar.gov by July 17 for consideration.

Hovis wins 50/50 drawing

Mike Hovis of Naylor is the winner of the Corning 4th of July Homecoming 50/50 Raffle Drawing. His name was drawn by a young man by the name of Matthew Hulsey and witnessed by Archie Banks of Miami, Waylon Haynes of New York, NY and Joe Wolfard, North Carolina.

McClung appointed Chief of Police

There’s a new head of law enforcement in town with a familiar face. Blaine McClung is the newly appointed Chief of Police for the city of Corning. Mc-Clung has had extensive involvement as an officer of the law with a total of 10 years of experience in both Clay County and Corning law enforcement agencies.
