Climb, Slide, Splash, Repeat . . .

Kids of all ages enjoyed the first of two Water Slide Days at the Corning Community Center on July 22. Growing Corning Together provided the perfect combination of relaxation and fun while beating the heat during Saturday’s Water Slide Days event. The date for the second Water Slide Day is August 26. A water slide event is also being planned for the community in Knobel.

Crowley’s Ridge College to receive $662,333 grant from Mabee Foundation

Crowley’s Ridge College is poised to receive a generous $662,333 grant gift from the J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation. This grant will go toward construction of the state-of-the-art Chemistry building and Lift Station as listed in CRC’s Mission Possible Campaign. The building will feature a brand new modern chemistry lab, research area, classrooms, and offices. The older Physical Science building will be renovated, including a new roof and matching exterior siding to blend with the new Chemistry building and make for a more vibrant campus with better resources to serve our students and new degree programs. The total cost for this ambitious and needed project is estimated at $3,311,667, and the Mabee Challenge Grant is conditional upon CRC raising the additional $1,071,204 it needs to fully fund the project.

In addition to the musical highlights to be offered at the Ford Room on Thursday, July 20, the VIP Meet and Greet will again be a treat. Mavis Smith Auction Company will again donate a light buffet supper for VIP ticket holders. It has been a remarkable journey for the Sugar Creek group. Rector music lovers will enjoy socializing with the men and discussing their career and talent.

GCT hosts Water Slide Day

Growing Corning Together will be hosting free Water Slide Days for the community. Kids of all ages will be able to enjoy the first of two Water Slide Days at the Corning Community Center on Saturday, July 22 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event is open for all ages. The date for the second Water Slide Day is August 26.

St. Francis Picnic wrap-up

Despite the usual hot summer weather, good crowds were on hand for the traditional food, fun and pageants Saturday as the annual St. Francis Picnic was held. The picnic is held in mid-July each year, with the proceeds benefiting both the Hall and Gravel Hill Cemeteries.
