LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas soybean producers are invited to apply for the 15th annual Grow for the Green Soybean Yield Challenge (GFTG), a competition that rewards high yields, spotlights innovation and promotes best practices to benefit producers statewide. Applications are open through August 1, 2025.
A Corning man was taken into custody Friday following an altercation involving multiple individuals, according to the Corning Police Department.

Two individuals from Ola, Arkansas, were arrested Wednesday after Corning Police officers discovered drugs and paraphernalia inside a parked vehicle at Casey’s General Store.
Lance Owens announced his intent to run for Position 1 in the 2nd Judicial District in the March 3, 2026, election. The district covers Clay,Craighead,Crittenden, Greene, Mississippi and Poinsett Counties. On May 28, the Corning Police Department responded to a reported structure fire at the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department District 10 shop, located on North Missouri Avenue.
On May 22, a new Facebook page called “Corning 4th of July Celebration” was created by Growing Corning Together, where they posted a video announcing that the nonprofit was going to revive and host the annual 4th of July Homecoming Picnic. This announcement comes after the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce, who has held this event since 1942 published in the January 15 edition of the Clay County Courier that they would no longer be hosting the event citing the difficulty of finding volunteers and, “The rising costs of organizing such events, coupled with the challenges of people taking vacations, school schedules and the natural progression of our community aging, have made it increasingly difficult to sustain these traditions.”
Corning School District celebrated its dedicated staff this week with an End-of-Year Teacher Awards Luncheon and a heartfelt Retirement Reception, recognizing outstanding contributions and bidding farewell to cherished colleagues.
Corning Park Elementary will have report cards available on June 6 in the office from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kindergarten t-shirts may also be picked up during this time.
