Lady Bobcats hosting fundraiser raffle

Members of the community have an opportunity to support the Corning Lady Bobcat Basketball team by participating in their fundraiser raffle. Prizes include a 36” Black-Stone griddle with cover valued at $600, a $100 gift card for Cate Pharmacy, and a collectible Case tractor valued at $150. Tickets are $10 with three chances to win. Winners will select their prize in the order their names are drawn. Tickets may be purchased from any Lady Bobcat basketball player. The drawing will be Oct. 3, 2023.

Lions Club $10,000 raffle underway

The Corning Lions Club is hosting their annual raffle for $10,000 for a donation of $100 to be given away on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. All proceeds go to the Corning Lions Club for Sight Conservation. There are only 200 tickets available for purchase and they may be purchased from a Lions Club member or at Red Taylor Ford. Participants do not have to be present to win.

NJHS elects 2023-2024 officers

The CHS/CMS National Junior Honor Society is pleased to announce the officer election results for the 2023-2024 school year. The NJHS officers are (left to right): President - Gracie Townsend, Vice President - Laura Johnson, Treasurer - Loreli White, Secretary - Jake VanNada, and Historian - Zoey Leonard. NJHS is a nationally recognized program for students that demonstrate high academic, service, leadership, character, and citizenship skills. The NJHS Advisor is Mrs. Jennifer Poe.

Lawmakers offer narrower change to Arkansas FOIA after bipartisan pushback

After two days of bipartisan backlash against proposed changes to Arkansas’ Freedom of Information Act, lawmakers late Tuesday filed narrower legislation to exempt information related to security services provided to the governor and other state officials. It’s the third attempt in as many business days to alter the state’s 1967 public records law.
