Special School Board Meeting Minutes
The Corning School Board met for a special board meeting on October 3, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in the board room with four members present. President Kirk Scobey was unable to attend. The board approved the recommendation to employ Theresa McKay as Park Elementary ALE Teacher, Karen Carpenter as High School Cafeteria Manager, and Ashley Banks as a bus driver. There being no further business, Vice President Kenny Francis adjourned the meeting.

2nd Grade Students of the Month
Kalyx Hollis, Layla Young, and Addeline Darnell are Students of the Month in the month of September. The word was Responsible.

Grand Champions awarded at NEA District Fair
Long hours of hard work and determination paid off for two Corning FFA members, Danny Crossno and Julie Nipper, as they were awarded various Grand Champion awards at the NEA District Fair. Crossno earned Grand Champion Senior Showmanship, Grand Champion Market Goat, Heavyweight Division Grand Champion, Heavyweight Division Reserve Champion, two First in Class Wins, and one Second in Class Win.

Fourth graders in Writer’s Spotlight
Fourth grade writers at Park Elementary, Jade Phipps and River Malone in class 4A, were selected for the Writer’s Spotlight. The writing assignment was to write a character description of a troll.

School Notes
At the conclusion of the annual report, the board continued with the monthly meeting with all board members present. Minutes and financial reports were approved followed by a facilities discussion including updates on various projects already underway.
