Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

On October 6th, 2023, a Clay County deputy stopped a Blue Jeep close to Pollard on US 62 for No Driver’s license plate. When the deputy ran a check on the subject, he learned she had a suspended driver’s license and was on probation with a search waiver on file. He then conducted a search of the vehicle. Where he found Hydrocodone pills and Clonazepam. 37-year-old Jacqueline Danley of Paragould was taken into custody and taken to the Clay County Detention Center and booked in on the following charges. Jacqueline Danley was charged with: Felony Possession of Controlled Substance

Investigation into gun threat leads to drug arrest

On Sunday afternoon, October 1, 2023, the Clay County Sheriff’s Department was notified about a Facebook post that threatened violence with a .45 caliber handgun toward the general public traveling Hwy 211 Northwest of Success. The individual who made the threat lived in the Success area. The Sheriff’s Department started an investigation into the matter. The department found that the individual was a convicted felon and was on probation out of Missouri. The Sheriff’s Department contacted Arkansas Probation and Parole to see who was supervising him. The Sheriff’s Department was advised that Arkansas had no record of him transferring to Arkansas and was not supervised. The County Sheriff’s Department contacted Missouri Probation and Parole and was advised that they knew nothing about him living in Arkansas and that he was not supposed to be in Arkansas. The Sheriff’s Department obtained a search warrant for 2571 Hwy 211 outside of Success. The Sheriff’s Department executed the search on October 3rd at approximately 3:50 p.m. The Sheriff’s Department did not find a weapon but found several recently fired empty .45 caliber shell casings in the yard and .45 caliber ammunition in the house. During the search of the house several drug-related items were found in plain view. The Sheriff’s Department arrested 40-year-old Alex Ross Shelton. He was transported to the Clay County Detention Center and booked on the following charges. Possession of Methamphetamine and Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Leo Hudson

Leo Hudson, 90, of Corning, AR., passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 at Corning Therapy and Living Center in Corning, AR. Mr. Hudson was born in Tryon, OK., on September 3, 1933. He was a retired truck driver and farmer. He enjoyed whittling sticks, Cardinal baseball, spending time with his family and talking with truckers who were passing through. He was of the Baptist faith.
