Harvest Fest 2023 in the books

It was a cool and breezy start on the fourth Saturday in October for the 2023 Harvest Festival with rain arriving in the afternoon. The event began as planned with arts and crafts, food booths, raffles, shirts, Kids’ Korner, 5K, antique car show, music entertainment, carnival rides, commercial exhibits, beauty pageants, and antique tractors and equipment demonstrations. Heavy rain dampened the activities when it arrived around 1 p.m. Local beauties in the various pageants were held at Park Elementary. Winners of the Ms. and Miss Harvest beauty pageants are featured on page 1 with additional pageant winners published on page 3 of this issue of the Courier and other photos from the festival on page 4. The Corning Chamber of Commerce worked full tilt for the community during the end of October hosting a Chili Cook Off at the Harvest Festival and Boo Bash on Halloween evening. The community implemented its city landmark, Wynn Park, to its full advantage the last week of October, as did the Farmer’s Market throughout the summer until the end of its season on Oct. 21.

Rep. Jeremy Wooldridge presented 2023 Statesman Award

Little Rock, AR - On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Family Council Action Committee presented Representative Jeremy Wooldridge (R-Marmaduke), with the group’s 2023 Statesman Award. Representative Wooldridge received the award for earning an A on the 2023 Family Council Action Committee’s legislative report card. Recipients of this award are recognized for their votes during the 94th General Assembly on the 25 bills scored in the report card. Erin Hogan of Family Council Action Committee presented the award to Representative Wooldridge at the Arkansas Capitol Building on Tuesday. “Legislators cast hundreds of votes at the State Capitol,” said Hogan, “and their hard work, good votes and dedication to Christian family values often go unseen. We selected votes on key bills based on our core belief in promoting, protecting, and strengthening traditional family values. Representative Wooldridge’s votes on those bills reflect those values. That is why we are pleased to present Representative Jeremy Wooldridge with the 2023 Statesman Award.” Family Council Action Committee is a 501 (c) (4) nonprofit organization.
