Profiri gets paid

At last Tuesday’s Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review (PEER) subcommittee meeting, members considered a request from Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’s office to move a $104,000 appropriation to her office’s extra help appropriation in order to cover the first six months’ salary for Mr. Joe Profiri, the governor’s new senior advisor.

U of A Div. of Agriculture to host rice and soybean production meeting

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture will host the annual rice and soybean production meeting Tuesday, Feb. 13 at the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center in Corning. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch catered by Cast Iron Kitchen and Catering. Speakers for the event include Stewart Runsick, County Extension Agent-Staff Chair; Dr. Jarrod Hardke, Extension Rice Agronomist; Dr. Jeremy Ross, Extension Soybean Agronomist and Dr. Hunter Biram, Extension Agriculture Economist. NRCS will provide updates followed by industry sponsor comments.

Sr. High Quiz Bowl Team earns hardware

The CHS Quiz Bowl team came away from the Senior High Quiz Bowl held on Thursday, January 25 in Walnut Ridge at the Northeast Arkansas Education Cooperative with a 4th place trophy. The CHS Quiz Bowl team faced some tough competition against some strong teams from Paragould, Westside and Greene County Tech. BRTC Announces President’s and Deans’ List for Fall 2023

POCAHONTAS, AR — Black River Technical College is pleased to announce the students who have been named to the President’s and Deans’ List for the Fall semester of 2023. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must be enrolled in at least 12 college credit hours, excluding developmental courses, not be on any type of probation, and must have a minimum grade point average of 4.0.
