At last Tuesday’s Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review (PEER) subcommittee meeting, members considered a request from Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’s office to move a $104,000 appropriation to her office’s extra help appropriation in order to cover the first six months’ salary for Mr. Joe Profiri, the governor’s new senior advisor.
LITTLE ROCK — Parents now have additional access to tutoring services for their children thanks to the Arkansas Department of Education’s Literacy Tutoring Grant Program. Because of the LEARNS Act, qualifying families can access up to $500 in literacy tutoring services from state-approved providers.
The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture will host the annual rice and soybean production meeting Tuesday, Feb. 13 at the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center in Corning. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch catered by Cast Iron Kitchen and Catering. Speakers for the event include Stewart Runsick, County Extension Agent-Staff Chair; Dr. Jarrod Hardke, Extension Rice Agronomist; Dr. Jeremy Ross, Extension Soybean Agronomist and Dr. Hunter Biram, Extension Agriculture Economist. NRCS will provide updates followed by industry sponsor comments.
The CHS Quiz Bowl team came away from the Senior High Quiz Bowl held on Thursday, January 25 in Walnut Ridge at the Northeast Arkansas Education Cooperative with a 4th place trophy.
