Traffic violation leads to drug arrest

On Monday February 26, 2024 at approximately 10:40 p.m. A Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy was traveling through Corning when he made a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. The traffic stop was at the intersection of U.S. 62 and U.S. 67. when the deputy came in contact with the driver, he advised the driver of why he was stopped and asked for his driver license. The deputy noticed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and other illegal items were found. Taken into custody was 54yr. old Terry Lee Garrett of Paragould. He was transported to the Clay County Detention Center and booked in on the following charges, Possession of Methamphetamine or Cocaine GT 2GM but LT 10GM , 2 counts of Felony Drug Paraphernalia, No Liability Insurance, Defective Vehicle Equipment.

Corning man facing rape and incest charges

On February 28, 2024 the Corning Police Department arrested 31-year-old Ethan Chavez of Corning for two counts of Rape §5--14-103 and one count of Incest §5-26-202. On February 29, 2024, Circuit Judge Scott Ellington found probably cause to charge Chavez in the above mentioned case. Bond was set at $150,000 and his next appointment in court will be March 25, 2024 in Corning.
