A Fishy Story

When I was growing up I had a lot of pets. My first pet was my dog Chum, later joined by a tiny stray who showed up one day and earned the name Squeaky. I had a Boston terrier named Scottie. There were dozens of cats, a pig named Porky and a white rabbit Hoppy. One kind of pet I never had much luck with was fish.

Corning 4H fundraising at Hop Alley Rally

Corning Country 4H met on Wednesday, May 11 at the Masonic Lodge. The club discussed their booth for the Hop Alley Rally on Saturday, May 21, 2022. The Corning 4H will be there selling various sweets, treats, and baked goods as a fundraiser for their club field trip to the Tennessee Safari Park on June 4th and supplies for the Clay County 4H Summer Day Camp in Piggott on July 8, 2022. During the meeting, the kids honed their cooking skills making cheesy roll-ups and peanut butter cookies.

BRTC Spring 2022 Commencement

POCAHONTAS, AR —Black River Technical College held its Spring 2022 Commencement on Thursday, May 12 in the Randolph County Development Center on the Pocahontas campus. Kimberly Adams, BRTC Academic Success Center Coordinator and Reading Instructor, addressed the graduates during the ceremony.

Burkheart graduates UAM

Brent Burkheart earned a BS in Natural Resources on Friday, May 13 with an emphasis in wildlife management from the University of Arkansas - Monticello and has accepted a job with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Burkheart will be stationed in Northwest Arkansas in the Fort Smith area. Brent is the son of David and Shelby Burkheart of Corning.
