Serendipity Announces 18th Year

POCAHONTAS, AR — The new list of books to be featured in the 18th year of BRTC’s Serendipity lifelong learning project has been selected. The titles include a blend of works of fiction, non-fiction, historical fiction, and memoirs. Many of the books are new releases including several selections that have won literary awards and critical acclaim.

NEA Co-Op to destroy records

The Northeast Arkansas Education Cooperative will destroy the records of students who transitioned, moved, or for any other reason left the ABC, Special Education, or HIPPY Programs in the 2015-2016. The records will be destroyed on October 1, 2022.

Lions Club raffle underway

The annual Corning Lions Club has begun their annual fundraising raffle. Every year they give away $10,000 with proceeds from ticket sales going directly to the local Lions Club for sight conservation. Only 200 tickets, each a $100 donation, will be sold to be given away Saturday, October 22, 2022. Participants do not have to be present to win. Tickets are available from Lions members or at Red Taylor Ford.

Harvest Festival plans in motion

The Corning Harvest Festival is right around the corner with many people looking forward to the event every year. Visitors travel to Wynn Park to enjoy the antique farm equipment demonstrations, an antique car show, entertainment and a variety of craft booths. For 2022 festival organizers have announced there will be a new event, a barbeque cook off. The Harvest Festival set on the fourth Saturday in October each year, will be on Saturday, October 22 this year.

Full Circle

by M urley Greetings, Down where I live, just a hop, skip, and hot muggy jump northwest of Houston, we have not had but two inches of measurable rainfall since June 2nd, and that was last week. We are promised more this afternoon, if we are lucky.
