Pumpkin Book Characters

3rd and 4th graders at Park Elementary were given an assignment in which they had to create a book character using a pumpkin. They had to first choose a book, read it, complete a book report on the book and then create their book character using a pumpkin. After completing the assignment, the students presented their book reports and characters to their classmates.

Parent-teacher conferences are wonderful opportunities to increase communication between school and home, keep parents informed about their child’s progress, and make plans for the student’s future. Although parent-teacher conferences are sometimes dreaded by all parties involved, they don’t have to be a bad experience.

So, did you treat, or were you tricked? Well, Halloween has come and gone, and the spirits have all returned to their crypts… we hope. So, how did all this scary stuff get started, anyway? Is it just an excuse to get dressed up in scary costumes and deviate from our normal boring lives (if your life is, indeed, boring)? By late September the merchandising begins black crepe paper strung everywhere, witches in cone shaped pointy hats, riding brooms, black cats, grossly carved pumpkins, figures in flying sheets, and vampires and every other creature of darkness that one can imagine.

Local songwriter published on major label debut

Corning, AR - Singer- songwriter Ricky Montgomery makes his major label debut with Rick, out this Friday, September 29th via Warner Records. The album will feature “Ethan’s Song”, a track written by Ethan Williams, of Corning, with Montgomery. The public may listen to Ethan’s Song at https://snip.ly/ cngvjc Williams met Montgomery in 2012 while the two were studying abroad in Canterbury, England. Their love of creating music sparked a lifelong friendship, and Williams is proud to contribute to his friend’s album. “I hope the positive message of the song will resonate both with Ricky’s fans worldwide as well as with folks from my home state of Arkansas,” says Williams. BRTC Trap & Skeet Club Places in Fall ’23 Conference

POCAHONTAS, AR — Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) Trap & Skeet Club finished the Fall 2023 USA College Clay Target League season with two students placing in the 1A-2 conference. Brayden Tarantino of Pocahontas placed 2nd overall. David Ladd of Corning placed 3rd overall. BRTC students played against much larger schools including Concordia University, Garden City Community College, Illinois College, Jefferson Community College, Mid-Michigan College, and Mohawk Valley Community College.
