Jaden Amaya Farmer was 15 years old when her life ended on Oct. 7, 2021. To her family and friends, she was a vibrant, kind-hearted teenager who loved to laugh, stay up late and make plans for the future. She was a daughter, a sister, a niece and a friend who had a full life ahead of her.
The Corning Park Elementary PAWS is sponsoring Donuts with Grown-Ups. This is meant to be a special morning where kids and their favorite grown-ups come together for donuts, conversation and fun. Each grade will have its own special day.
Prior to the August Quorum Court meeting on Monday, Aug. 18, the Clay County justices and county administration met at 5:30 p.m. at the Black River Trap and Skeet Club where Clay County Extension agents held a fish fry and interpretive event.

10Box Cost Plus went public on their Facebook store accounts introducing their new line of 10Box bread. This store branded bread will replace the Best Choice brand of bread which 10Box previously offered. It will be available on store shelves in 20 oz. sliced sandwich bread, 8 ct. hamburger buns, and 8 ct. hotdog buns in both white and wheat with no high fructose corn syrup.
The Knobel Mustang School Reunion was held July 5 at the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center in Corning. The gymnasium was full of an estimated 180+ former students from the 1940s to the 1980s, many of them wearing Knobel Mustang T-shirts and caps. The last graduating class of Knobel High School was in 1985.
The City of Corning hired Evan Luter’s MTG Enterprise, LLC to remodel the dining room at the M.B. Ainley, Jr. Community Center. The walls, which were previously a burnt orange color, are now grey with the brown baseboards and the brick fireplace now painted white. All light switches and wall outlets were replaced to match the room’s new white trim. They also fixed a dent in the wall underneath the window between the front desk and gymnasium. The company was previously contracted to repaint the interior of the facility (except for the dining room) back in Spring of 2020.
The annual Pollard Picnic, to benefit the New Hope Cemetery, will be held Saturday, July 12, in Pollard. As usual, this year’s picnic will include a full schedule of beauty pageants for contestants of all ages.
