LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Heading into “No Shave November”, the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation (APCF) is calling on men across the state to grow out their beards with pride in order to raise awareness around men’s health issues like prostate cancer.
The Hemingway- Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center is pleased to announce its 2024 writer-in-residence position. The residency will be for June 1-30, 2024, and includes lodging at a beautiful loft apartment on the downtown square in Piggott over the City Market coffee shop. The writer-in-residence will also have the opportunity to work in the studio where Ernest Hemingway worked on A Farewell to Arms during an extended stay with his wife’s family in 1928. The residency includes a $1000 stipend to help cover food and transportation.
Parents with children attending Park Elementary are invited to participate in the Park Family Book Club. The club’s first meeting is November 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. inside the Park Elementary cafeteria. Families will enjoy a read-aloud of “Turk and Runt, A Thanksgiving Comedy” by Lisa Wheeler, participate in a parent-child activity of disguising a turkey and refreshments. Those interested in joining book club with their child may contact their child’s teacher for a membership packet or call the office at Park Elementary at 870-857-3748.

Our mothers, our sisters, our partners, our daughters, our friends… More than 2.3 million cases of breast cancer occur each year, making it the most common cancer among adults worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and all year, we encourage everyone to raise awareness of the importance of breast self-exams and mammograms.
