Billy Ray Waymon
Billy Ray Waymon, 88, of Corning died unexpectedly on January 11, 2023.
Bill was born August 1, 1934 in Pocahontas. He was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving tractors, and in later years watching the farmers work the ground from afar. He loved spending time with friends, family and particularly his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved everything about the outdoors, except maybe the cold in the last few years! He was an avid fisherman. Most of all he liked setting trotlines out and catching huge flathead catfish. He tied all the hooks and made the lines himself. He loved the camaraderie of the fish frys to be had from his catch. Bill was a great deer hunter, killing hundreds of deer in his lifetime. In his younger years he coon hunted with his coon dogs, friends and family. We would run traps in the evenings that he had set out that morning before daylight. He loved all these activities and loved the stories they provided for him. Survivors include his children Shelly Waymon of Batesville, AR, April Lunsford of Corning, AR, Lisa Rouse of Pocahontas, AR, Robert Tippit of Pocahontas, AR, Steve Tippit of IL, Tim Tippit of Licking, MO and Wesley Tippit of St. Louis, MO; brothers Benny and Dickie Waymon, both of Pocahontas and sister Vicky Waymon of Delaplaine, AR; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Ossie (Johnson) Waymon. to share. He was of the Christian faith.
Visitation was held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Graveside service followed at 1 p.m. at Antioch Cemetery near Pocahontas. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
