The Corning School Board met on Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. with all members present. The minutes and financial report were approved. The Board approved an extension to Superintendent Woolard’s contract through June 30, 2028. Next, the board approved the Cardiac Response Plan Policy, DESE’s K-12 Cybersecurity Policy Plan, and the purchase of library shelving from Patterson-Pope Company. Inventory Deletions were approved. Superintendent Woolard distributed the financial interest forms required by the county clerk and also shared the board training hours from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024. Superintendent Woolard shared student achievement information concerning CHS with the board. With the addition of Bobcat Time to the CHS schedule, students have the opportunity to receive remediation instruction each day. This has resulted in a dramatic decrease in students failing courses. Only seven students failed a course for the first semester. Finally, Superintendent Woolard provided the board with an update on the building project. There being no further business, President Scobey adjourned the meeting.
