Letter from Clay County Sheriff

As everyone knows Clay County had tornado damage last night, but compared to other places we were fortunate. Last night there was a lot going on at one time and dispatchers could get overwhelmed with calls for assistance. I want to encourage the people that live out in the county to specifically call 911. We had two dispatchers on duty last night to handle emergency calls. If you need immediate help from the Sheriff’s Dept. or other emergency services, please call 911. Sometimes when the other dispatch locations are dealing with their areas of calls, the Sheriff’s Dept. does not get notified in a timely manner that someone needs help. This is not saying anything that happens like this is intentional, but they can get forgotten to be passed on. So please call 911 if you need help out in the county, so we can make sure you get as quick a response as possible. Thank you, Sheriff Ronnie Cole
