Girl Scouts, in the six to eight years old group, returned home from a week at Camp Crossed Arrows near Batesville, ready and willing to do their part for the 4th of July Picnic which has been a favorite Summertime event all their lives. They and several adult chaperones, assembled in cool, shady Wynn Park to remove dust and sprinkler spts from teh beautiful new Lincoln which is to be given away on the night of the Fouth.

Corning School Board Meeting Minutes

June 2, 2025 The Corning School Board met on June 2, 2025 at noon in the District Office with all members present. The board approved the bid of $364,813 from Vaughn Excavating for the demolition of the high school buildings and a placeholder allowance of $942,580 for utility/ site work. The allowance was approved to ensure a timely transition from demolition to utility site work to minimize wait time between demolition and the commencement of utility work for the new buildings. Mrs. Woolard shared with the board that demolition is expected to begin the third or fourth week of June.

Corning Police arrest local teen in assault investigation

On June 2, officers with the Corning Police Department responded to a call at a residence on West Main Street regarding a reported assault. Upon arrival, officers, along with a deputy from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, made contact with the suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated.

Francis announced as a May 2025 UCA graduate

The University of Central Arkansas held fall commencement on Thursday, May 1, and Friday, May 2, 2025, in the Farris Center on campus. Degrees and certificates were conferred from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; College of Business; College of Education; College of Health and Behavioral Sciences; College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics; and Graduate School.
