7th Grade/Jr. “B” Bobcats face Brinkley in scrimmage

The Corning 7th Grade football players and Jr. “B” Bobcats played in a scrimmage against the Brinkley Tigers on Monday, Oct. 2 at 5 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium. Coach Farrell Shelton called the number of plays while Coach Trevor Barajas served as referee. Corning hosted Brinkley players and coaches serving refreshments after the scrimmage with Coaches Trevor Poe and Kyle George manning the grill.

Bobcats pick up 4th win against Cedar Ridge

We traveled to Cedar Ridge and picked up our 4th win of the season on Friday, September 29th by a score of 54-6. Our defense was a strong presence with multiple sacks led by Peyton Cartwright. The defense had two forced fumbles, and a defensive touchdown. They only allowed one score on the very first drive of the game and the defensive line then, shut them out. We had a diverse offensive attack with 167 yards of rushing behind our offensive line with 134 yards through the air, two rushing and four passing touchdowns. Seth Smith threw 3 touchdowns. Colben Pettus threw one and Jakob Cox accounted for 4 touchdowns total.

Local songwriter published on major label debut

Corning, AR - Singer- songwriter Ricky Montgomery makes his major label debut with Rick, out this Friday, September 29th via Warner Records. The album will feature “Ethan’s Song”, a track written by Ethan Williams, of Corning, with Montgomery. The public may listen to Ethan’s Song at https://snip.ly/ cngvjc Williams met Montgomery in 2012 while the two were studying abroad in Canterbury, England. Their love of creating music sparked a lifelong friendship, and Williams is proud to contribute to his friend’s album. “I hope the positive message of the song will resonate both with Ricky’s fans worldwide as well as with folks from my home state of Arkansas,” says Williams. Grand Champions awarded at NEA District Fair

Long hours of hard work and determination paid off for two Corning FFA members, Danny Crossno and Julie Nipper, as they were awarded various Grand Champion awards at the NEA District Fair. Crossno earned Grand Champion Senior Showmanship, Grand Champion Market Goat, Heavyweight Division Grand Champion, Heavyweight Division Reserve Champion, two First in Class Wins, and one Second in Class Win.
