The demolition derby held on June 7 was a success. The winners were Scott Wright, first place; Austin Seal, second place; and Jake Smart, third place. The next derby is scheduled for July 5 at the Clay County fairgounds. The peewee division starts at 6:30 p.m. and the derby will be at 7 p.m. Entry at the gate is $10 with pit passes at $20.
The University of Arkansas announced students who earned a spot on the Dean’s List for the Spring 2025 semester.

The annual Pollard Picnic, to benefit the New Hope Cemetery, will be held Saturday, July 12, in Pollard. As usual, this year’s picnic will include a full schedule of beauty pageants for contestants of all ages.

The Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association is looking for interns for their Annual Convention and Trade Show for the week of Aug. 4-9. The internship will cover Little Rock and Hot Springs. Interns are expected to prepare for and then execute the convention event plan set forth by the staff. The week long internship is unpaid, but housing and food for the week will be provided. The Growing Corning Together Community Garden meets twice a week to water, weed and do regular garden maintenance. Depending on weather they meet on Monday evenings and Friday mornings.
