During the summer months our Blackstone griddle gets a workout. The thought of dirtying my kitchen does not appeal to me. And when my husband offers to cook dinner, then who am I to protest. What began as an impulse purchase a few years ago has turned into a weekly staple in our home, transforming breakfast, lunch and dinner into summer feasts.

High-speed pursuit leads to arrest

On June 29, at approximately 5:45 p.m., a Clay County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a green Dodge Charger traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 135 east of Corning. The driver refused to stop and fled the area, initiating a multi-jurisdictional pursuit.

4-H Members compete in Clay County O-Rama

4-H O-Rama provides 4-H members with the opportunity to compare the skills they have gained with those of other members and with their own previous performances. 4-H club members from Corning, Piggott and Rector competed. This year’s Clay County 4-H O’Rama placings were: Bait Casting & Sportfishing- Juniors: 1st place- Kyle Golden, 2nd place- Kade McKinney, 3rd place- Samuel Jolly, 4th place- Charlie Swint. Seniors: 1st place- Thyme Spence, 2nd place-Lake Brown. Bicycle- Juniors: 1st place- Kyle Golden, 2nd place- Emma Golden, 3rd place- Emma Wilson, 4th place- Jaxon Wilson. Gun Safety-BB Gun- Juniors: 1st place- Kade McKinney, 2nd place- Charlie Swint, 3rd place- Ridge Brown, 4th place-Grayson Spence. Seniors: 1st place- Lake Brown, 2nd place- Thyme Spence. Horse-Juniors: 1st place- Emma Golden. Performing Arts- Vocal- Juniors: 1st place- Abigale Wilson. Public Speaking- Juniors: 1st place- Charlie Swint. Method Demonstrations- Illustrated Talks Juniors: 1st place- Kade McKinney.
